Her Pacific Palisades home was demolished by the Palisades Fire, leaving only a few beams behind. Her interior-designer friend Amy raced to the house before it burned and retrieved the gravestone of her late dog Chewy — Atkin wrote, "My heart feels whole again having our Chewy with us." She and husband Mike Rosenthal evacuated with their two young children (River, 3; Sloane, 2) and later relocated to Seattle.
